Hyper Jam is a competitive arena shooter for two to four players, made in beautiful scenery while also offering fast gameplay and various skills for each and any of the characters. The goal is to win rounds by eliminating opponents with rocket launchers, crossbows, hammers, machine guns, katanas and many other firearms, including the special perks that can be attained as the match goes on.

The 80's were marked by the appearance of colorful TVs, which featured popular retro-style action films, and the first personal computers where adult people started playing and creating real masterpieces and classics of gaming, which over time turned into a source of inspiration for already modern developers.
Hyper Jam is exactly one of these games, according to the creator, Bit Dragon, it was based off of Japanese and Western classic movies and computer games.
The title is team based; together, two, three or four participants of a multiplayer match get into an arena and brawl with each other.
For each kill and even damage caused, players will receive an experience point that can be spent to buy game changing perks. A total of 15 perks are available, but at the end of the round you can get only one of them that will be combined with the previously chosen skill. Thus, at the final round, players will move at lightning speed, shoot like professional snipers and even learn how to set up an energy shield.

All four characters that you can currently play as

The winning team will be decided based on which one got the most eliminations, with the gameplay getting very intense and incredibly fast paced towards the end of the round, which is when it reaches it's peak.
The 2019 title looks very good, the maps are vibrant. Their layout and design is very detailed and thought-out, you will find yourself clashing with enemies from the beaches in Miami to the underground metro stations of Tokyo.
Each character, there being 4 in total, has an interesting back story, which is a nice detail.
Being the only minus, some of the perks available for each and any of the characters are a bit unbalanced and feel unfair / more useless than others, but the game is still very much new, so there is still going to be a lot of things changed and updated, as the developer team is very active and reacts or answers feedback and questions fast.

You want good looking PvP arenas? You want amazing soundtracks and visuals? What about smooth and mostly-balanced game mechanics? Well, Hyper Jam has all of this, and combined with the qualities and style of the atmosphere and style of the title, the game is absolutely one of the best released in 2019 yet. It is certainly one of, if not the best released revealed in PAX Games Convention, and has been on my radar ever since it was in early access, and it definitely didn't disappoint and is absolute class.

Verdict: very fun, fast paced while also only costing 11.69$ on Steam. Giving it a spin is simply a must, as the game is "oozing with class".
    Neon and color overflow.

You are a huge and heavy tyrannosaurus rex, rushing through the jungle in search of food. The feeling of hunger reaches a critical point, thirst is burning your trachea, but then a slight smell of prey is felt in the air. Yes, it's a couple of huge Gallimimus' grazing in the nearest field! The hunt is on..

The early access survival title features you, as a dinosaur, trying to outlive, kill and survive among other pre-historical creatures. You also have to provide for your family, assuming you have one, watch them grow and protect as that is happening.
You have many controls and nuances to learn, such as sniffing, hiding, following and attacking. Each of these mechanics provide new possibilities to thrive in the environment, it being an island that, as you advance through the game, changes accordingly to your actions and decisions.
The point of the game is to kill or be killed. Survival of the fittest. Expect to die. A lot. Every mistake can and probably will be punished, so you always have to be careful and aware of your surroundings.

You can either choose to be a carnivore or a herbivore. Me, playing as a herbivore dinosaur, I had to travel and look for food more often than enjoy the beautiful scenery or explore the huge and well made map. The biggest minus is that big animals, like t-rex's get hungry every few minutes, which is really annoying, because that is the antonym of "realism", as I really doubt a dino with a full stomach would want to eat agin after 2 minutes.
Adding to the poor realism, you die even when falling from the tiniest of heights. Doesn't matter what animal or from where you fall - you will die 90% of the time. The idea of the game was good, but not so much the execution. However, if you are a fan of concepts like this, this game might be for you - the game is still in early access and is / will be constantly updated for the better.

Another fairly big problem is the servers and optimization. While the latter can still be somewhat excused, especially as the game does look pretty good, the servers used to constantly either kick me out or go offline for like 30 to 40 minutes.
The developers, while constantly updating the game, seem to not really listen to the community's feedback and just go on with their vision of the game, which often doesn't end in good results.
This is certainly not an AAA title, but it is a decent game. Even if slowly, it is developing, but the developers should listen to their players more because the map is only so good and fun to play because it's the players themselves that control, maintain the environment and fauna.

    The Isle
can be beautiful, even spectacular at times, but it has it's flaws. With time and friends, the game can be fun, however not very balanced, especially the dying from things that shouldn't harm you (such as the aforementioned fall damage) part.

Verdict: while The Isle sometimes does feel like a real quality game, it comes with it's problems (there being quite a few). I can't quite recommend it yet, or at least not for everyone, and you should probably wait for it to come out in full release (if it ever does, that is) to witness it's full potential and glory. However, if you're a hardcore dinosaur and survival fan, the game might be good enough to ignore the flaws, and buying it right now is an option that would set you back 19.99$.

Investigator is a first-person shooter with horror elements. You used to be a detective before weather cataclysms started appearing and rapidly exterminating humans. The ex-officer is now an ordinary wanderer, moves from house to house, in search of food and shelter.
The game was made by AdroVGames, a small developer team that has made two games, ShadowSide and Investigator, with the first being their second game, released two years after Investigator, which published in 2016.

The story starts off with you just trying to survive. Then, for various hardly comprehensible reasons you're investigating the open world map around you (it isn't very big, by the way), then you're running from monsters, then you get kidnapped and so on. The storytelling goes way too fast and is hard to keep up with, and the storyline itself is quite boring at first. While it does get more intriguing on the way, at the peak of it's turnover, it ends. Just like that. It feels so anticlimactic, especially as I completed it in 2 hours. I thought this was some sort of anomaly or the first episode, but it wasn't that's the entire game. You're getting two hours of playtime here, which is pretty disappointing but I accept it because of the fact that it costs 0.75$, being 62% off from 1.99$ because of the Steam's Lunar New Year Sale.

I do have to admit, while the story might have been a bit of a letdown, the scenery and the looks weren't. The graphics are really good and everything is well optimized, with my laptop being able to run it at 1080p near-max settings at locked 60 frames per second. Secondly, the scenery and the map design is great. While it is not big, it is very fun to explore and look at, even if traversing the entirety of (and I mean all of the map) it takes about an hour. The well-written soundtrack, the map and graphics, however, can't make up for the fact that the atmosphere is ruined by the lack of scary moments. It does look gloomy, spooky and scary at first, but when you encounter the enemies enough you really know that there isn't much to be afraid of. If you're a fan of hardcore jumpscare fan - go play Amnesia or Outlast instead.

CryEngine really does make the indie release a lot of good, huh?

The action really isn't an apparent thing in Investigator. While it does have the tag on Steam, all the real battles go down in cutscenes, which you don't have any control or take any part in. The only action you do is just shooting the same enemies with similar weapons again and again, advancing through the game. Coming back to the map - even though it is good looking and well designed, the story doesn't use it's full potential and is quite linear. You just walk, shoot, interact with objects, making it quite dysfunctional and unrewarding to explore. Another missed opportunity to make the game shine, because all these points make Inspector more like an interactive movie than a game.

The game has some stuff going for it, but it still is a far shot off of a AAA title. It does some things right, but the most important stuff like combat, story and the longevity of the game just aren't polished or thought out here. It could of been a lot better, and the developers could have updated it for the better, but I guess that's what you get for 3/4 of a dollar.

Verdict: if you're looking to kill some time by just going around, looking at the scenery and sometimes shooting - go for it. But if you're looking for real horror, adrenaline and action - skip Inspector.
