It seems that the debate ultimately comes to a point of personal preference, although the consoles, which are basically specialty computers, offer a lower price-point for typically better processing and graphics. Fans of the PC are usually such because of the configurability that PCs and gaming mice/keyboards offer. The problem is that the PC is generally made to be a multi-purpose tool--even so-called gaming PCs--as opposed to being built specifically for gaming. So the trade-off is lower price or more configurability, assuming all things being equal as far as hardware is concerned.

Overall, PC is better if you can build them correctly. If you know what components are going in then PC is far better. Consoles are prebuilt and thus typically worse as the components cannot be upgraded or changed. If you can build a proper pc with a decent budgets, pc is better. If you have a low budget and cannot build pc's, consoles are better.
