    Kingdom Come: Deliverance Review - RPG for Gamers Patient

    RPG is a game genre that is complex and flexible. Many things can be done with the game designer RPG concept, but there are some elements that are the foundation of this genre: leveling, equipment, and building character of the will of the player. In most RPGs, leveling system occurs whenever the player reaches the target XP required. Each level up, character attributes can be raised and the players get the option to choose the skill of active or passive buff new. But in Bethesda RPG - especially in The Elder Scrolls, leveling system is divided into various branches. Players will  level upaccording to what action they often do. If the players often use the sword, the sword swinging capabilities that will continue to rise, if he's happy to kill the enemy silently, then the level of  stealth will rise. I always felt that if this be the most interesting leveling system and natural for RPG games because of the attributes that rise is consistent with the way your playground. Unfortunately, this system is not much use, 7 years after the last series of The Elder Scrolls release,  Kingdom Come: Deliverance become one of the game's finally use RPG formula.

    Kingdom Come: Deliverence an exciting game to be explained. Broadly speaking, the game looks like a "non-fantasy version" of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and even some elements such as UI, the game world and leveling system inspired look of the game. However, all aspects of gameplay that is injected by Warhorse Studios are very complex at the same time complicated for this one game, and natural that many gamers would give up after a few hours. But if the players really want to master all the gameplay mechanics offered, players seemed to come  level up along with the main characters they play. What is the purpose of my explanation, and how well this game for RPG fans? This review will explain it in detail.

    The story is adapted from the original history of the kingdom of Bohemia

    Everything starts with peace and happiness in Skallitz

    Kingdom Come: Deliverance took the background at the beginning of the 15th century, in the kingdom of Bohemia is now the Czech Republic. You play as Henry, a boy who lives in the village of Skallitz. Yes ... the ordinary village, not a prince, or a warlord who was sent by an angel who became a cliche in RPG games. You are a child of the sword craftsmen that can not be anything ranging from fighting, swimming, and even read. The game starts with Henry helped his father complete the sword to Sir Radzig Kobyla - king of Skallitz. Everything went smoothly, but of course the game would not happen if there is no conflict. Right after the sword to Sir Radzig completed, Skallitz attacked without warning by a team Cuman.

    After the slaughter of Cuman troops completed, Henry returned to the village Skallitz to bury the bodies of her parents along with her lover - Bianca. But bad luck again struck Henry after he was attacked by bandits. Fortunately she was rescued again by soldiers from Talmberg, but his father's sword stolen by the bandit army boss. Henry was taken by Theressa - one of the people who survived the Skallitz is heading Rattay and care to recover. Now Henry had two missions after her tragedy is: Reclaim the sword of his father from the hands of the bandits and kill Markvart von Auliz - chairman of Cuman troops at once a man who killed his parents.

    Aspect of the story of Kingdom Come: Deliverance become one of the best aspects of this game. The story in the game might not unique at all and many have done so in a variety of other media, but with the pacing right and storyline performed well, Kingdom Come: Deliverance succeeded in making the players want to know what happened next. Each of the characters involved in the story had to be interesting properties that have the characteristics despite the cliches. Opener game may seem too long (session prologue takes 3 hours or more depending on the player), but after opening this slow, new conflicts faced by Henry started to become exciting and developmental character of Henry or the other characters introduced in more depth.


    Play as you please, solve problems in your own way

    Although the stories are based on the original history of the Czech Republic, Warhorse Studios do not want to restrict the freedom of the player in completing the game. Every quest in the game usually have few solutions to be resolved. Not everything must come to an end with the sword and blood, sometimes talking amicably be the best answer in every problem that exists because  combat  in this game is really hard, we will discuss about the combat in detail later.

    We take only the easiest example is the game's prologue. Once you wake up, you are commanded first quest is to collect a debt from a person named Kenesh, but he can not pay right now when you need the money to buy coal to solve your father's sword. Are you going to hit Kenesh to ask for forgiveness because he refused to pay debts, or maybe you go into the house and stole the goods to be sold, or do you prefer to be a good person and go back to your father to ask for his money alone? With just three of dozens of ways that you can do to finish this quest. Quest so later most had this pattern, making the player feel they have the freedom to solve the problems facing them.

    Even if it does not offer a solution quest branched like this, you will still be made have accomplished something with your own thoughts, and not because the game tells exactly what you should do. All this is due to Kingdom Come: Deliverance does not fully exploit the functions of map marker . Quite often only give out the last location of people who want you to find it and the rest should you look for yourself where the specific location. Quite often I find something interesting in the journey toward the goal of a quest as the enemy base or a place filled with loot free, unfortunately the game does not mark all interesting locations are on the map, making me forced to deviate to the venue in advance for not oblivious to the exciting locations thereafter.

    Like what I described at the beginning of the paragraph, Kingdom Come: Deliverance have a leveling system similar to The Elder Scrolls. Attributes and skills possessed Henry will continue to rise with the more frequent Henry doing activities that can raise skills. If Henry continued to use the sword, sword skills will continue to rise, when he was often on horseback, so his expertise in doing so will continue to grow. At a certain level, Henry will get several options a perk certain skill level who just ride them. But the perk has always had major consequences of the advantage given reversed. For example, there is a perkhenry to make attacks more powerful, but stamina required is also greater. There is also  a perk that gives the opposite effect, making stamina it takes a little more, but the attacks made much weaker.     Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a difficult game, you really are encouraged to continue to increase the longer you play champion. All aspects of gameplay in this game is very complex and it takes patience, especially in melee combat . In short, the melee combat of Kingdom Come: Deliverance almost like Mount and Blade, but with some improvisation that makes combat much more "realistic". Combat in Kingdom Come: Deliverance is not a combat where you can easily defeat the whole enemy alone. Combat in this game is very slow and push for strategic.

    In Kingdom Come: Deliverance, you can attack the enemy from all sides - top, top right, bottom right, upper left, lower left, and also thrust into the middle. Enemies can also do the same thing, the difference between you and the enemy are used armor and sword tactics in play. Enemies like bandits usually easy to be defeated because it did not have armor and their reflexes are not so good. But the enemy as soldiers or even the captain will be much more difficult to overcome because they are super thick armor and how to fight them more professional. Die in this game a natural thing, especially for newcomers. But the longer you will be more accustomed to the gameplay difficult provided you are patient. You will be more intelligent positioning, and specify a time when to strike. It feels satisfying to grow from a country boy confused how to swing a sword into a soldier who feared by enemies and revered by the people of Bohemia.

    Aside from the intricate mechanics of fighting, there are some other gameplay mechanics that is not made easier by the developer. Let's start with the lockpick first. Lockpick in this game is not a lockpick system that often you meet in the game Bethesda. Minigame used Warhorse action is relatively easy to learn but difficult to be executed. Even to complete the easiest level was already very difficult and takes a lot of adaptations, now imagine yourself how difficult it is to who has a level of "hard".     In each fight, sword will be met by the blood of the enemy that you just finish. The more often you use a sword in a certain period of time, the sword will be broken and increasingly ineffective. Therefore, players must be diligent in visiting places sharpening swords that are typically located in major cities in Bohemia. Sharpen the sword is not done automatically granted, you have to sharpen his own sword by a sort of minigame. You should expect the right angle in the sharpening process if you do not want your swords be blunted or become too thin and easily damaged. Unfortunately there is no similar mechanics for armor, shields and blunt weapons, making this mechanic feels half-finished.

    Outside of some complex mechanical above this, the game also have the system hungry, need to sleep and save limited. Just like an ordinary man, Henry needed to eat and sleep every day, Henry should not be hungry, too sleepy and too stuffed. When that happens, Henry's performance will be reduced is by stamina down, loss of concentration and also constantly complains to himself. The food itself must be selected, Henry should not eat foods that are stale. Eating spoiled food can raise the risk of poisoning and reducing the health of Henry every second.

    Save game system completely restricted so that players can not "spam save". Save can only be done during sleep or when you have an alcoholic beverage called Savior Schapps which are expensive but can be made through  alchemy . At first, I saw this save system is truly unique and cool because now I can not "save scum" whenever you feel there's something dangerous happening. But the longer I play the more I was vexed with this save system. When you die, you have to reinstall from scratch you wake up or the last time you drank Savior Schapps, What would happen if the game suddenly occurred bug or glitch, or if the game suddenly crashes? You had to be rewritten from scratch again perform all the tasks you've done a few minutes ago and had you done again because the games force you to do so. Maybe it felt like a coward, but I decided to use unlimited mod save after upset have to start over every time something untoward happens.

    Aspects of the story in the game probably I praised as one of the best aspects in the game, but the same would not apply to every NPC dialogue are sung. Not all bad, the main cutscene dialogue sounds great and performed very well, but for dialogue outside the cutscene? Quite often I feel  cringe with dialogue that comes out of the mouth of the NPC in this game. NPC too often reply to your lines with short answers that seem stiff, unnatural and too artificial, Termudahnya example is the prologue where Henry telling his story to the Lady Stephanie. What comes out of the mouth of the Lady Stephanie's tragedy is told Henry? "Oh. child diligent "," course "," Poor thing, "" You are full of surprises ", etc. Might not sound as bad as what I was trying to explain. But when you look straight, it felt too awkward and it looks like his own voice filler similar discomfort with the nature dialogue.

    To exacerbate the problem, each character as if he only had 6 animated body language. The longer you play, the more you feel if every NPC and Henry do the animation that was just a continuous basis. This may be a regular problem in open-world games, but still annoying to see the same movement over and over again.

    Another major issue that I often experienced at the dialogue session in this game is a very limited number of models. You will be met with the same face several times although it is a different character. Again, this is a problem common in open-world game, but usually a character with the same face are regular NPC who was not involved in any quest. Unfortunately in this game you will often see the twins even on the main quest.


    Technical problems, bug and glitch

    Kingdom Come: Deliverance look beautiful, especially on ultra settings. Start of vegetation, light effects, the details of each object, Warhorse actually using Cry Engine very well in this game. But behind this gorgeous visuals, the game is still questionable optimization. Framerate drop often occurs and even the hardware in accordance with the specifications recommended, game difficulty to keep the framerate of 60 FPS, especially when lots of NPC are stacked in one area such as in cities Rattay or when a major war. Aside from framerate issues, there are some other technical issues such as the view distance in which the rendering process often damaging late immersionduring play, the game unfinished texture load process and make the object look low-res, and also freeze every few seconds suddenly without apparent reason. Is it because of Cry Engine was unable to process the open-world game of this magnitude? I do not really know, but I can only hope that developers can re-optimization of this game later.

     

    The technical aspects are more annoying in this game is where loading screen every time you engage in dialogue to an NPC. For a game where you will often have a dialogue with the NPC in particular see a peaceful dialogue is often the best solution, it will not take long to feel irritated by the presence of this scree loading. Perhaps the loading screen is not long, about 2-3 seconds, but still annoying to continue to wait for the loading screen in advance only for each transition from real-time gameplay to dialogue. This problem can be resolved by installing the game on the SSD, but still questioned why there should be a loading screen in each dialogue session.

    Aside from the above third complaint, now let me explain about and bug and glitch in this game. Imagine a bug and glitch in Skyrim, Fallout 4 or other Bethesda games, but worse. Yes ... as bad as it was, at least based on my 40 hours of gameplay. Horses are always caught in the fence or shrubs, NPC is often lost parts of his body, the NPC is in a position T-Pose, etc. Some bugs are also often undermine the progress of the game. Sometimes NPCs do not want to talk, making the quest can not be continued, and also sometimes required items lost in the earth when you want to take. When this happens, you inevitably have to reload a really emotive for a save location was definitely far from the current position for the save system is too  gimmicky  as I described earlier.

     


    Verdict

    Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a RPG game interesting and unique. Complex gameplay, story carried well, and gorgeous visuals make this game worth trying by the hardcore RPG fans in particular and looking for something that is not a cliche. However, it is unfortunate the game had technical problems ranging from optimization to bugs that really ruin  fun of the game. The game is still good, but in the meantime, I suggest to wait for a patch from developer first.
