Heroes of the Storm review and more

Heroes of the Storm is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) PC game. Developed by Blizzard, the game features characters from Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft in exciting combat. With a lot of charisma and accessible to novice players, Heroes of the Storm comes to compete with titles like League of Legends and DotA.

    • A new challenger in the arena

The MOBA genre is marked by two teams of up to five "heroes" who face each other in arenas and need to destroy towers and the base of the enemy team. With a lot of MOBAs available for free, it took a while for Blizzard to mature the idea for Heroes of the Storm. Interestingly, the genre that made fame to games like DotA and League of Legends, was born as a mod between Starcraft and Warcraft. With Heroes of the Storm, in addition to Blizzard being again at the epicenter of the MOBAs, it features a game with many new features.

    • All the charisma of the Blizzard characters

Like any MOBA game, Heroes of the Storm lets you collect heroes that are used in battles. Although it does not have a central history, it is common for game producers of the genre to explore small individual stories told in the form of extra videos and texts. But Heroes of the Storm is a crossover among other Blizzard games. These games have lots of story behind and a good fan base. Quotes, references, jokes and internal jokes, besides being fun to see, make perfect sense for the context of the characters. Putting on the same team Tyrael and Diablo, main antagonists of the Diablo series, is something hilarious. Thanks to well-developed stories throughout the other games, Heroes of the Storm is one of the few MOBAs where rivalry between heroes is more than justified. In the small plot of the game, the reunion of these classic characters is explained through the fusion between the universes, the Nexus. This merger brought calamities to each of the multiverses. So, Heroes of the Storm is no longer a MOBA with new skins, but rather a game that brings with it all Blizzard culture, a way of celebrating everything the company has done in the last 20 years.

    • Encouragement to teamwork

Teamwork is a must in MOBA games. However, many matches are held between people who do not know each other. In this scenario, weaving a strategy for your team can be tricky. Blizzard has bypassed this problem with more elaborate and cleverly less complex arenas. The big balcony behind these arenas with goals, is in the intrinsic communication between the players. Even without knowing each other, a strategy is already built thanks to the rules of each arena. When using options to communicate, whether by text or voice, teamwork only improves. In the battlefield "Haunted Mines", for example, players must collect skulls to strengthen giant golens. These creatures walk towards the enemy base to destroy it. Already in Dragon County, players can activate statues of dragons and use their power against enemies.

    • Simplified gameplay

Heroes of the Storm clearly attacks the main problems of the MOBA genre. One of them is the overly long matches. In championships, where all players know each other, even makes sense, but in casual matches, this excessive delay is fatal. The matches are pretty fast, about 20 minutes, and the game has inviting interaction. The game updates the player constantly, through warnings of other characters about what is happening in the Arena. It may seem a little boring this constant "talk", but is something ideal for beginners. In the battlefield "Haunted Mines", for example, players must collect skulls to strengthen giant golens. However, some of them have popular classes in the MOBA genre. The assassins are the characters with ranged attacks, while the warriors are the classic "Tankers". Already the champions of support, guarantee healing and change of attributes for the members of its team. There is even the specialist class that does not fall into any of the above.

    • Flawless presentation

Heroes of the Storm arrives with Blizzard's long-awaited dedication. The game is all in Portuguese, with great dubbing and cartoons-style graphics. The visualization of the characters and scenery enhances the visual spectacle, but the game does not require a powerful computer. The installation also favors less powerful computers. The game downloads a basic package first and the rest of the game is added later.

    • Patience to deal with the purchasing system

Just like in any MOBA game, to get the champions quickly, the player needs to shell out a fair amount of money. Fortunately, it's possible to buy the champions using the coins they've won each game. Heroes of the Storm offers a mission system similar to Hearthstone. Even so, there comes a point where the winnings in each match are minimal and it is best to stop playing and wait for the next daily mission.
