Deathgarden: BLOODHARVEST is a third-person survival horror game developed and published by Behaviour Digital Interactive, the same developers who made Dead By Daylight. It was released in 14 August 2018 on Steam as an Early Access game.
After the end of a great war, The world transformed into a ruthless dystopian universe, divided by two nations. One known as the Scavengers and the other known as the Hunters. The victors of this war built prosperous cities within a structure known as the Enclave, where only a few deemed worthy can live a decent life. The Scavengers were driven into the slums because of their defeat. The only way to regain the rights to a better life is to put one’s life on the line in the Deathgarden.
The lore behind Deathgarden is as tragic as it terrifies. This is just the beginning of an age of darkness.
Deathgarden's gameplay style is very similar to Dead By Daylight except it has a lot of running and gunning. There are two types of character. Scavengers and Hunters. You can either choose to play as a Scavenger or a Hunter. There will be 5 Scavengers and a Hunter in each match. Scavengers will run for their lives and the Hunter will try to hunt them.
Scavengers are known as survivors. They will enter into the Deathgarden to take part in the Bloodharvest. If they survive the Bloodharvest and escape the Deathgarden, they will be granted admission into the Enclave. As a Scavenger, your main objective is to extract blood from body piles. If you manage to deliver enough blood units as a group, you'll trigger the exits that allow you to escape from the Deathgarden. There are three blood banks where you can deliver the extracted blood. Scavengers can shoot objects with their Vambrace to mark them. It can also be used to disable enemy drones. Scavengers can also do parkour moves while they run for their lives.
On the other hand, Hunters are ruthless killers. They're the guardian of the Enclave. As a Huner, your main objective is to track down the Scavengers and execute them on sight. If a Hunter manages to kill 4 out of 5 Scavengers, the blood mode will be activated which makes the last remaining Scavenger visible to him. Hunter can use traps and drones to locate Scavengers. Blood banks can also be used as beacons. If Scavengers try to deliver blood, it'll immediately notify the Hunter about their positions.
There are 4 types of crates in Deathgarden. Red, Blue, Yellow and Golden. Red crates will heal your wounds, blue crates will give you power cores and yellow crates contain standard bolts for Scavengers and ammunition for Hunter. There will be some golden crates throughout the Deathgarden. Whoever from the Scavenger team or the Hunter loots it, will get infinite ability usage for a short period of time.
From each match, you'll earn XP and resources which can later be used to upgrade your characters and loadout.
Deathgarden: BLOODHARVEST is a great game, but lacks attention at the moment. The game itself is still very new to the community. Sometimes matchmaking takes a very long time because people generally don't play it as much as they play Dead By Daylight.
The gameplay is solid, graphics are beautiful, characters are well designed. It has all of the potentials it needs to become a successful game, but it's not just there yet. I'm really curious to see what Behaviour Digital Interactive is going to do next with this IP.
The game is pretty fun to play. If you're interested, you can check it out. It's only $14.99 on Steam.
