What is Team Fortress 2?

What is Team Fortress 2?

Team Fortress 2 is an FPS MMO game developed and published by Valve. In Team Fortress 2 you can play as nine different classes, heavy, scout, soldier, engineer, pyro, spy, sniper, medic, and demo. Play alongside your teammates to defend or capture objectives. Play in different game modes like payload, attack/defense, control points, king of the hill, capture the flag and man vs machine. Team Fortress 2 first started back in 2007 and is still getting new players today. Very few games seem to last this long. One of the reasons as to why this game has lasted nearly 13 years is because of its amazing community.

The Community
The Team Fortress 2 community has (in my opinion) one of the best game communities out there. Sub-communities like the map makers, artists, animators, modelers, and content creators are still interested in creating new maps, cosmetics, and artwork for this game, despite Valve not paying much attention to the game. 

Updates?
As of 2017, when the jungle inferno update was released, there has not been a major update to the game, but this has not stopped the community. Many content creators, map makers, artists, and modelers are still making content (maps, cosmetics, hats, weapon concepts, etc.) in hope that their creations will be implemented in a future update, whenever that may happen.

Is the game dying?
It's pretty hard to say. There are quite a few threads and videos out there saying the game is dead or is slowly dying, but I have to disagree with these videos and threads. Yes, there has not been an update in nearly 3 years, but new players are still entering the game, and people are willing to come back to the game as soon as new content is added. Some members of the community are so dedicated to the game and its community that they've decided to go ahead and create their updates.

Creators.TF
Creators.TF is a Team Fortress 2 community celebration project that takes the initiative to provide new content for Team Fortress 2. Using the help of community content creators, the Creators.TF team can provide complete community-created events to their servers through modding and plugins.

Well, I don't think the game is really safe to play since the code source leak a few weeks ago. The same goes for CSGO. I could be wrong but hackers can take advantage of the leak and hack your pc...
