I get the hype, but I don't understand why people would be willing to pay that much for it.

Also, you drop on a map, spend most of your time looting places and hiding, have a few exciting PvP moments, but most of the times, you'll end up being one-shotted from somewhere.

Many people also recommend only playing this game with friends, and I can understand why.
