The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review (SWITCH)

Released in 2011, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an unsurpassed success and has a legion of fans and enthusiasts who even today venture through the icy lands of the Bethesda RPG. The game, which originally came out for PC, PS3 and X360, has already received remastered version for the new generation and more recently a version of Nintendo Switch announced along with the console, and it is about this edition that we will talk about now.

The version of Switch is the same as we know it: you are a prisoner who receives a second chance and along the journey is discovered the chosen one to battle against several enemies and dragons spread by Skyrim. Luckily the game already comes with all DLCs (Dragonborn, Hearthfire, and Dawnguard) and does not delete any content.

Graphically speaking, Skyrim does pretty in the Switch, utilizing all the power of the console to create the vast world of the game. The look is a "middle ground" between the 2011 version and the remastering launched in 2016. It is a stable and beautiful game, with no frames falling while maintaining 720p in portable mode (it can drop to 896 × 720 at certain times), and 900p in the dock, with 30 fixed fps. A curious detail is that the game looks a little darker in the portable mode, damaging the game in more bright places. The lack of brightness adjustment in the settings would solve this problem, and we hope it will be added in a future update.

A positive addition was made in gameplay: movement control. In fact, compared to Kinect and Move the Nintendo console version is the best. Combat is fluid, not forced adaptation to promote Switch function. Features such as crosshairs, sword control and spell casting can be performed with gestures performed at Joy-Cons and we advise you to find a comfortable position to enjoy the experience in the best possible way.

Of course the "keyboard + mouse" combo gameplay on the PC, or even traditional controls may be more comfortable for most gamers, but having the opportunity to face an already known game in a different way is not something we all see days, especially when this adaptation is a revision of the already done, correcting glitches from previous versions.

The news does not stop there, because now it is also possible to use your Amiibos in Skyrim. The "collectibles" give access to extra treasures, which are conjured with magic within the game. Although you can use several different amiibos during the day, none can be used again within the 24 hour period, ie the caster will not work, so use one at a time and wait for the next day to collect more treasures.

If you have Zelda amiibos, you have a 20% chance to unlock one of the three thematic equipment in the series (the Master Sword sword, the Hylian Shield shield and Champion's Tunic), plus rewards such as food, gems, gold, armor The other Amiibos also release these rewards and the items vary according to the amiibo used. But do not despair! If you do not have Zelda amiibos, you can get the themed equipment in a chest located on the top of the mountain "The Throat of the World", but we have warned that getting them that way will not be easy!

Bethesda did a great job bringing the Skyrim experience to the Switch, giving new gamers the opportunity to get to know the title and encouraging veterans to use the handset's portability to continue their journey on the go. The port is surprising and can already be considered a must have title in the Nintendo console library. The changes and news compensate even for those who have played, reaffirming Skyrim as one of the best and grandest adventures in the world of games. Fus Ro Dah!
