it depends on the price of the game that you wanna buy. For example, if getting a key costs more SG than getting the wallet money, then getting the wallet is obviously the better choice.
Same goes for the other case.

Getting the steam wallet is the better option in my opinion since you can always wait for big steam sales to get the game for cheap
