Resident Evil HD (2015) is a refreshed version of the iconic PlayStation 2 game from the late 90s. In 1996, the popular Capcom studio from Japan created a unique survival horror with adventure and logical elements that took the hearts of players around the world by storm. Resident Evil thus gave rise to a whole series of excellent horror themed games, and even laid the foundation for Devil May Cry and the character Dante.
In Resident Evil we played one of the two playable characters - Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield. They were both members of the elite group S.T.A.R.S. that traveled to Racoon City to save the survivors from zombie attacks. As it quickly turned out, these monsters did not appear in the city out of nowhere - they were metropolitan residents who underwent a macabre transformation by a virus created in the Umbrella corporation. Both Jill and Chris were tasked with saving healthy civilians as well as controlling the situation in the city. An interesting procedure created by Capcom was to adjust the plot and the potential endings of the game to the character chosen by the player. Resident Evil HD (2015) was created to give fans of the series a return to their memories, making the game much better in reception at the same time. The game has been improved in terms of graphics (higher resolution, improved models and textures) and sound (5.1 surround standard). In addition, the movement mechanics have been improved, offering players more ability to personalize the controller layout. Most importantly, the refreshed version of Resident Evil is available on the seventh and eighth generation SONY and Microsoft consoles, Switch, as well as on PC.
Capcom was founded in 1979, but it wasn't until four years later that it released its first full-length game. From that moment, the studio started working at full capacity, constantly creating and releasing dozens of games, until today. From under the wings of Capcom came such hits as, among others, DuckTales, Street Fighter or Devil May Cry. Like the cult DMC series, Resident Evil is also the work of the experienced and popular Capcom studio from Japan. It is also known that it was Resident Evil that gave rise to the character of Dante and the DMC series, which in the first projects was supposed to be a continuation of Residen Evil.
The first part of Resident Evil was created in 1996 and it was initially released exclusively on the PlayStation. Later it also appeared on GameCube. This game was a one-of-a-kind survival horror game with adventure and action elements. The plot was about bloodthirsty monsters that began to terrorize the city of Raccoon City. It quickly turned out that the monsters are actually city dwellers turned into zombies as a result of a virus that was created and released by the mysterious Umbrella Corporation. To save the survivors, a special unit called S.T.A.R.S., in which the player plays a role, is sent. We can choose between two playable characters: Chris and Jill. The very choice of the hero affects the plot and the end of the game.
Resident Evil has delighted players with music, story, challenging missions and gameplay for years. For this reason, in 2015, a remake of this amazing title was created, called Resident Evil HD (2015), which this time was released not only on PlayStation 3 and 4, but also on Microsoft consoles (Xbox 360 and Xbox ONE), PC and Switch.
