The Half-Life game series dates back to 1998, when the first part of the game hit PCs as the debut project of the emerging Valve Corporation studio. Over the years, the studio has created many unique titles that have given it a high position on the market and the opportunity to create the profitable Steam gaming platform. Valve Corporation is also the creator of one of the most popular online shooters, played all over the world - Counter Strike. However, Half-Life, as the first work of the studio, took a unique place in the hearts of the creators. Thanks to this many Half-Life series games were released - they included two full-fledged parts of the game, as well as a number of DLCs, side episodes and extensions.
In the first part of the game, we met Dr. Gordon Freeman, who is trying to escape from a research center in which teleportation research was performed. As a result of an error in testing, a huge disaster occurs, in which a significant part of the crew of scientists was killed. The second part of the game tells about the adventures of Freeman in the metropoly called City 17. In this part we encounter other important characters, such as Alyx Vance. It was she who became the main character of the next installment of the game - Half-Life Alyx. The title was released in March 2020 as a game designed exclusively for PCs with the Windows operating system. In addition, Half-Life Alyx was created specifically for virtual reality goggles. Alyx Vance travels through City 17 with her father, with whom she conducts research on aliens from the Combine.
Valve Corporation is a huge studio that has created not only the Steam gaming platform, but it has also developed and released many of extremely popular shooters, such as the Left4Dead series (an outstanding zombie game) or the Counter Strike series (currently the most popular FPS game for many people). In addition, Valve Corporation created the Portal game - beloved by players around the world, as well as the Half-Life series (it was thanks to it that CS was born, because Counter Strike was originally created as a modification for the first part of the game).

The latest installment of the series, released in 2020, is Half-Life Alyx, which has been released so far only on a PCs with the Windows operating system. This part was created mainly for VR goggles designed for computers - HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. In this part of the game we play as Alyx - the character known from Half-Life 2.
