Fortnite is changing to a subscription based game. It will remain free 2 play, but they are just trying to find ways to monetize now. Fortnite used to get events with daily gradual changes.
Fortnite isn't forcing ANYONE for monetizing them. You can still play the game in its best way even if you don't spend a single penny on it. I am also that type of player that doesn't spend any money.
