A recent favorite of mine is In This Corner of the World, but really, nothing can top Millennium Actress. Satoshi Kon is on fire with this one, with all the surreal visual telling, hidden symbolism and wacky arts jumble into a fine, fine mess, somehow kept together through a simple abeit powerful storyline. Just think of it makes me want to rewatch this masterpiece.

I am quite a fan of Slice of Life anime, so my suggestion would be Super Cub, Truly a hidden gem.

Hunter x Hunter is an absolute gem, World Trigger is another amazing anime A+
If you're looking for more grit and less glam Parasyte is a must see and Cannon Busters is a pleasant watch and is a Netflix original.
When it comes to quick one season anime im personally a fan of No Game No Life, as long as you can handle the fanservice, and as stated above Angel Beats is a genuine masterpiece that grabs hold from start to finish
