A meteorite containing a substance unknown to humanity fell near the Tiber River. Half of the resources are seized by the terrorist organization Brotherhood of Nod. The group is dynamically developing and undertaking terrorist attacks. When they plan one of them in Europe, the United Nations Security Council wishes to thwart their plans and sets up a military intervention called the Global Defense Initiative. This leads to an armed conflict, the outcome of which depends on the fate of the whole world. The user can choose one of two story paths that present the story from the perspective of each of the parties to the conflict. To make the gameplay varied, opponents have other resources that significantly affect the style of play and affect the chosen combat strategies.
The game resembles its original also in terms of audiovisual, but it is refreshed in an appropriate way - everything has been perfectly balanced: people who have already reached for the title will feel the atmosphere of the previous game, and new users will not get bored of too large references to the game from the 90s.
